Usually when you start off in this field it can be long hours and low pay. During the first few years there can be extreme highs and extreme lows. Once you get into this field, you can’t back down. It is very fast paced and competitive. There will always be someone to take your place. You have to want it and work hard to keep it. You have to go hard and put in your all. Having the confidence and self-motivation to keep going will help you more than anything else in this field.

You have to build strong relationships with people and listen to their needs and also provide for those needs. As you move along as a recruitment consultant you will gain respect and attention. You must maintain a professional but caring persona. Doing a great job will ensure that you will have new clients. One of the best ways to recruit new clients is by word of mouth. If you are good at what you do, it is only a matter of time before people start taking notice and the word will spread.

Always remain professional. You can be nice and sympathetic without being a friend. Trying to be friends with each client can cause you to lose respect. You want to be seen as a professional.

Communication is the biggest part of your job. You need to be able to listen and assess the needs of Employers and job seekers.

Work hard. Doing a great job means that you get more referrals. The more referrals that you get the less time that you have to spend recruiting. That leaves more time to meet your current clients needs.

Keep clients happy. Happy clients mean more a steady stream of job openings for you to fill. It also adds up to more referrals and more money.

Always listen out for recommendations and referrals from other recruiters. Checking out new leads can always help.

Learn to write beautiful honest job descriptions. This will set you apart from other recruiters and make you look more professional.

Work well with others. You want to be well liked by your coworkers as well as your clients. This will help them feel comfortable and they will share information with you. This can result in more clients and more money as well.

  • Find out if they can work with a team
